Confucius bathed, went to court and informed the duke Ai, saying, "Chen Heng has slain his sovereign. I beg that you will undertake to punish him."
孟子·離婁下》:雖有惡人,齊戒浴,則可以祀上帝。
Though a man may be wicked, yet if he adjust his thoughts, fast, and bathe, he may sacrifice to God.
禮記·曲禮上》:居喪之禮,頭有創則,身有瘍則浴,有疾則飲酒食肉,疾止復初。
According to the same rules, if he have a scab on his head, he should wash it; if he have a sore on his body, he should bathe it. If he be ill, he should drink spirits, and eat flesh, returning to his former (abstinence) when he is better.
