趙汝談《宋史》本傳：字履常，登淳熙十一年進士第，調汀州教授。佐丞相趙汝愚定大策，汝愚欲驟以詞掖處之，力辭。汝愚去國，罹黨禍斥去。尋召為太社令。時侂胄用事熾甚，汝談痛憤，登壇讀祝大呼。侂冑及陳自強名自強不能堪，以叅知政事李璧薦，召試，擢正字。改知無為軍，獻料敵備邊二策。厯湖北、江西提舉賀理宗表力寓勸戒。端平初，以禮部郎官召對，言：「倚用老成，廣集忠智，願加聖心」。又言：「大佞似忠，大姧似聖，擢任之始，未見甚失，乃寖至差譌，則是非邪正易位，而黜陟予奪失中多矣」。改秘書少監。時集議出師，汝談反覆言不可輕戰而和尤非訃。既而三京收復，雖前言用兵不便者亦喜，汝談獨有憂色。未幾，洛師敗，始服其先見。遷宗正少卿，權吏部侍郎，陞侍讀。朝議履畝稱楮，汝談言非便，迕時宰意。京師軍變，宰相乞貶秩，汝談持不可，草答詔，以為貶秩易審舉措難，宰相滋不悅，以言去。起知婺州，召權禮部侍郎。登對，首疏言：「邊曲無可倚仗，乞超越拘攣，簡拔俊傑，使各分方。而巴蜀一人，荊襄一人，兩淮各一人，一切便宜行事，不復更從中御，庶幾伸縮由已，機用出心」。且曰：「臣之此䇿，行於開禧未用兵之前，決不至罹仐日之患」。其論褚法尤中時幣，上稱歎乆之，以老祈免，改侍講、權給事中、權刑部尚書。及卒，轉兩官，遺表上，又轉四官。
