23  | 不幾日煞了場，傳是明早發榜了。那徐鵬子夫妻兩口那裡睡得著？聽見打了五更，心下疑鬼猜神的，就如熱鍋上螞蟻，那里由得自己！約莫打過五更一會了，還不見動憚。又漸次東方發白了，聽得路上鬧烘烘的，此時身子也拴不住，兩隻腳只管要往門外走。一開了門，只見報喜的人跑得好快，通不到自家門首略停一停。問他解元是甚人，還要跟著那人走了幾間門面方才肯說。鵬子道：「事有可疑了！天已大明，且到榜下去看一看。」來到榜棚下，單看那下面「春秋」兩字。見了第三名就是《春秋》，著字兒看將上去，也是仁和人上面卻是丁全。心下想道：「這人是《春秋》中平日極不通的，為何到中了？且自由他，看後面。」著從前直看到榜末，又從榜末直看到前，著行細讀，並不見有自家名字在上面。此時身子已似軟癱了的，眼淚不好淌出來，只往肚子裡攛，靠著那榜篷柱子，失了魂的一般，癡癡迷迷。到得看榜人漸漸稀了，自家也覺得不好意思，只得轉頭悶悶而歸。那一路來一步做了兩步，好不難行。正是： |
