2  | 而采茶歌尤善。粵俗，歲之正月，餙兒童為綵女，每隊十二人，人持花籃。籃中然一寶燈，罩以絳紗，以絙為大圈，緣之踏歌。歌十二月采菜，有曰：「二月采茶茶發芽，姐妹雙雙去采茶。大姐采多妹采少，不論多少早還家。」有曰：「三月采茶是清明，娘在房中繡手巾。兩頭繡出茶花朶，中央繡出采茶人。」有曰：「四月采茶茶葉黃，三角田中使牛忙。使得牛來茶已老，采得茶來秧又黃。」是三章則幾於雅矣。東莞歲朝，貿食嫗所唱歌頭曲尾者，曰湯水歌。尋常瞽男女所唱多用某記，其辭至數千言，有雅有俗，有貞有淫，隨主人所命唱之。或以琵琶蓁子為節，兒童所唱以嬉，則曰山歌，亦曰歌仔，多似詩餘音調，辭雖細碎，亦絕多妍丽之句。大抵粵音柔而直，頗近吳越，出於唇舌間，不清以濁，當為羽音。歌則清婉澑亮，紆徐有情，聽者亦多感動。而風俗好歌，兒女子天機所觸，雖未嘗目接詩書，亦解白口唱和，自然合韻。說者謂粵歌始自榜人之女，其原辭不可解，以楚語譯之，如「山有木兮木有枝，心悅君兮君不知」，則絕類《離騷》也。粵固楚之南裔，豈屈、宋流風，多洽於婦人女子歟！ |
