20  | 緣打狗港水淺灘淤，戰艦繒艍概無所用，須盡易舢板頭𦪟子小船，乃可入也。登岸旱田百餘里，夾道蔗林，處處可容伏兵，非焚燒劃平，未便輕進。臺民以蔗為生，糖貨之利上資江浙，一旦火成焦灰，半歲勤動，不得以養其家口，於心竊有未安。況當寇賊蹂躪之餘，撫摩噢咻，尚恐稍緩，不應復有此一摧殘。某非敢以婦人之仁，阻撓軍國大計，但軍國大計不在於斯，則摧殘無益，為可惜也。 |
