56  | 處今之時當今之勢通之之道將如何娊穸反古則有執禮誤民之廢中而遵西則有用彞變夏之謗開議院則勢渙而滋亂倡教會則道高而難成廣學堂則費重而莫舉擴善社則事龐而效淺編部曲則謠雜而近俚演傳奇則意譎而惡陳通翻譯則力薄而緩時窮游歷則勢孤而傷費此由後之效非由今之急也今雖欲求通杳不可得也且也天下至大人民至眾官萃於堂兵萃於行士萃於庠農萃於鄉工萃於坊商萃於場舟車不常家室無方孰能不澏驤不翼而翔一一口之舌之揚之張之哉若夫收已渙之精神不待合眾省誦讀之日力無事閉門可詗古今可審中外可瞻風俗可察物理可諳時變可稽敵情可新學術可強智慧茹其新吐其陳嗇其直豐其益不蹴戶域而眼目口耳罔不通焉者非無其道也 |
