| 30 | 稱病西湖淨慈寺，聞南巡已至淮，揚從京口將趨行在，大學士楊一清固止之，會奉㫖兼巡撫江西，遂還南昌。忠等方挾宸濠搜求百出，肆為飛語，北軍或肆坐嫚罵，或故衝導起釁，先生一不為動，務待以禮。豫令市民移家於鄉，而以老羸應門。始欲犒賞北軍，泰等預禁之令勿受，乃傳示內外，諭北軍離家苦楚居民當敦主客禮，每出遇北軍喪，必停車問故，厚與之櫬，嗟歎乃去。久之，北軍咸服，㑹冬至節近，預令城市舉奠。時新經濠亂，哭亡酹酒者聲聞不絶，北軍無不思家泣下。先生與忠等語，不稍狥，已漸知畏，嘗與先生較射教場，先生勉應之，曰：「三發三中，北軍舉手嘖嘖」。忠等懼，乃班師還南都，讒先生必反，曰：「召必不至」。庚辰正月，有詔召先生至蕪湖，忠泰拒之，半月不得入。乃入九華山草庵宴坐，武宗遣人覘之曰：「王守仁，學道人也，召之即至，安得反乎？」乃命返江西。 |
